Introduction Quaid-i-Azam University

The Quaid-I-Azam Institution of Islamabad, established as the University of Islamabad, is a public research university in Islamabad, Pakistan.
Established as Islamabad Institution in 1967, it was originally devoted to postgraduate study, but expanded during the 1980s to an interdisciplinary university providing both graduate and postgraduate studies.

Students and Ranking Quaid-i-Azam University

Since 2015, the University has become the biggest variety in Islamabad with a total enrolment of around 13,000 students.
The University is located at the foot of Margalla on a campus of 1700 acres (about 6.9 km2).
Divided into four faculties and nine associated research institutions, QAU is one of the biggest and top public universities in Pakistan.

It ranked between 510-520 worldwide in 2020 and between 225th, 225th, and 125th in the world in physics, mathematics, and agriculture departments, probably. Below 100 in emerging economics and 111th in Asia in QS World Universities Rankings, with its regional publishing rankings among 120 in Asia in 2013.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings rated QAU in its 2020 list in the world’s 401-500 and top 75 in Asia.
The university interacts intellectually with worldwide institutions, including the UN, Tokyo University, and ICTP.

University Alumni

It is one of the most popular colleges in the nation and has a variety of prominent personalities and thinkers since its inception, both now and in the past. Maleeha Lodhi, Nasim Zehra, Shamshad Akhtar, Suhail Zubairy, Farzana Aslam, Tasneem Zehra, and Salma Zahid among them. Professor Muhammad Ali is now in charge of the University.

History of the Quaid-i-Azam University

The Government of Pakistan created the University of Islamabad on 22 July 1967. It was renamed Quaid-i-Azam University in commemoration of Qaid-e-1976 Azam’s founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah, which marked the centennial of his birth. However, it was unusual to use the spelling of the university name, i.e. I was used instead of “e” for Ezāfe, which ties the two terms in the heading of Jinnah Quaid-e-Azam.
Initially, the University provided Ph.D. and MPhil teaching and research programs and subsequently provided a Master’s degree program. The University currently provides undergraduate courses.

University Positioning and reputation

The QS World University rankings of 2018 and 133 in Asia rated between 651-700 universities worldwide.
QAU was placed 6th in natural science in 2010 for QS Top 10 Asian institutions.
The institution was listed among the world’s top QS institutions between 100 and 200 in 2007 and 2009.

The Quaid-i-Azam University ranks first in the general category, according to the most recent rating of the Pakistan Higher Education Commission in 2019. According to the Times Higher Education Latest Rankings, QAU is the only university in Pakistan to rank among the top 500 institutions in the world.
The University of Quaid-i-Azam comprises four faculties and 38 institutions, colleges, and centers.
